Getting ready

How to prepare your home for painting

Our goal is to make your painting project as smooth, clean, and stress-free as possible. We'll take care of the hard work. A few simple steps before we arrive help us protect your home, work efficiently, and deliver the beautiful, long-lasting results you expect.

Before we arrive

Just a few simple things before we get started

All we ask

  • Remove fragile items, valuables, artwork, mirrors, electronics, firearms, medications, important documents, and sentimental belongings from the work area.
  • Remove small décor and personal belongings from shelves, furniture, countertops, and other work surfaces.
  • Secure pets in a safe area away from the work zone.
  • Ensure we have clear access to all areas being painted.

Here's what we'll take care of

  • Protect your floors, furniture, countertops, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces.
  • Move standard furniture as needed to safely access the work area.
  • Carefully mask and cover all areas that aren't being painted.
  • Remove, label, organize, and reinstall cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware when applicable.
  • Keep your home clean and organized throughout the project.
  • Perform a thorough cleanup before we leave.

Cabinet painting

For cabinet painting projects

Cabinet work touches the spaces you use every day, so a little extra prep keeps your belongings safe and the project on schedule. Please also:
  • Empty all cabinets and drawers before we arrive.
  • Remove food, dishes, cookware, utensils, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and all personal belongings from cabinets and drawers.
  • Clear countertops of small appliances, décor, food, and personal belongings.
  • Remove items from nearby open shelving if they may be affected by the work.

Heads-up

Large or specialty items

Some items require special equipment, additional manpower, or advance planning. If your project involves any of the following, please let us know before your scheduled start date:
  • Pianos
  • Gun safes
  • Aquariums
  • Refrigerators
  • Wine refrigerators
  • Commercial or oversized fitness equipment
  • Large appliances
  • Oversized or exceptionally heavy furniture

These items are not moved as part of our standard painting service.

If one of these items must be moved to complete your project, we'll discuss the available options with you before work begins.
